Litter Pick at Parish Pit

ParishPitSignThe 'Hethersett' Parish Pit is now in the parish of Little Melton, after the parish boundary changed in 2019. It is a strange and beautiful place, with bluebells blooming right now. But it attracts some visitors who leave their rubbish behind. Others clear it away regularly but there is enough to make a group litter pick worth doing.   We are planning to pick litter on Saturday 22nd May between 10:00 and 12:00.

It's steep sided and brambly so not suitable for the unsteady and children would need parental supervision. We have bags and litter pickers but please make sure you have good footwear, gloves and consider goggles to protect your eyes. Face masks would probably still be a good idea. We will aim to maintain social distancing - hugs for close family members only!

Please email Sue Vaughan at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to join the pick, with details of what equipment you have. We will meet at the Hethersett Pit sign on the permissive footpath - see arrow on map below.   There will be space for some cars to park at Beckhithe.

Traffic Calming survey results

Traffic question 1

Thank you to the 134 people that responded to the survey.   95% would like to see some form of trafic calming.   A couple of people oppose traffic calming because the road is already obstructed by parking near the school - parents are encouraged to use the Village Inn car park but this arrangement is dependant on the good will of the Village Inn owners.

Parish Meeting

TwentyZone

The PC is supposed to hold an Annual Parish Meeting in March but Covid rules don't permit that.   Please see the notes below  about curent PC activities and please ask any questions on the village Facebook group or contact PC members.  We will hold a Zoom session on 15/03/2021 at 19:30 but would like to answer most questions before that as long Zoom meetings are not much fun for anyone - please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you would like to attend the Zoom.

Roadworks

RoadworksSept21 to Jan 202104/01/2021 to 15/03/2021

This was scheduled to start on 21/09 but has been delayed due to Covid problems at the Land Registry.   There will be roadworks on Hethersett Lane, north of the bridge over the A47 as described below.  The new roundabout will provide access to a new multistory car park that will provide more parking for the hospital and other buildings.

The PC has requested signage on Hethersett Lane to deter drivers from using Braymeadow.  It is also hoped that the cycle path will be extended north of Braymeadow whilst the road is closed.
