01. Getting Started

Welcome to Little Melton Village Website. To help you navigate the site, we have put together a guide, outlining your admin roles and how to use the functions of this site. As a site administrator you will have one or more of the following roles:

Group member: Each village organisation has its own page. If you are part of a group, you can edit this page, depending on your permissions within your group. To find these out, contact the person in charge of page maintenance for your organisation.

Site managers: There are three managerial roles within the site:

  • Manager: Site managers can manage content on the site.
  • Administration: With this role, you have all the privileges of a manager, with added privileges of being able to manage components of the website and website options.
  • Moderator: As a moderator, you have the privileges of an Administrator, as well as the ability to manage people, by modifying user groups, permissions and expecting new registrations to the site.

Author: As an author, you can create content on the website.

Editor: As an editor, you can edit the content of the site.

Publisher: As a publisher, you can publish content, but you cannot create new content.

 

 

 

 

 

 

02. How To Create An Article

You can create an article using the admin toolbar. To do this, first, log in and then find "create a new article" on the toolbar, which should be at the top of the page ( if you cannot see this it means you have not got the adequate permissions. See introduction to find out what you can and cannot do, or contact an administrator for help):

Once you are on the page, start by giving your article a title, then write your article. Make sure to add an introduction and an intro image (cover image - see below for more details). To add intro text, go to the editing tools at the top of the editor and select "read more", from the bottom right of the editing toolbar. Add your introduction text above the line.

Adding Images to your article

To add images to your article, first, upload them. You can do this using the upload tool above the article editor. This will save the photo to your file, which you can then find by selecting "image" in the editor and going to articles>user> Your Username. You should find any images you upload here.

 

Formatting your article

To break up your article into sections, you can use page breaks. Insert a page break after each section to organise your article. Once you have written your article, you must go to the "publishing" tab:

Select the category your article needs to go in. This changes where your article will appear on the site, and it will not appear on the correct page if you put your article in the wrong category. You also need to add tags. You can choose from the list, or create your own. If you have any problems, contact an administrator.

03. Adding to the calendar

To add to the calendar, log in to the site and navigate to the calendar. Next, hover over the day of your event. A "+" symbol should appear in the top right corner of the box. Click on this to take you to the calendar entry page. Once on the page, fill in the form, making sure to select the appropriate category. Once you have completed the form, click on the "Calendar" tag at the top of the form. On this page, change the start and end time and/or date for your event. If your event repeats, you can set this below, by day, month, or year. You can choose to repeat by a specific date or by day, for example, the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Make sure to click save and close, which is just above the form, after filling out the details for your event.
