Little Melton Pre-School Nursery - Annual Report 2010

The nursery had a change of committee in July and has since worked hard together with the staff to produce an Annual Development Plan which shows how the Nursery is to grow and progress into the future. The nursery has had a very successful past year, investing in some new equipment for the children to develop their skills.  The main area of focus for the Spring/Summer term is to proceed with the development of the outside area ready for the children to be able to enjoy the warmer weather.

The Administrator role adopted in September 2008 has proved to be a vital asset to the nursery, it allows a dedicated member of staff to undertake all the paperwork and administrative affairs of the nursery, thus ensuring that there is a continuity of procedure.  This post has been in place now for 18 months and is working extremely well.

We currently have 30 children on our register, with 5 more on waiting list to start this academic year. The children come from a large area, including Bawburgh, Costessey, Norwich and Suffolk! The children on the register provides a good mix of government funding and parental funding, thus showing that we have a good mix across our age range.

The website is now live and proving to be a success as we now receive a number of new enquiries through it.  The address is It has a lot of information on it for prospective parents, allowing them to download the welcome pack giving them details of how the nursery is run, opening times, prices etc.  It also gives up to date information to parents of attending children including term times, fundraising events, newsletters etc.

We have a comprehensive fundraising plan in place which includes a number of bigger events throughout the year such as the Christmas Fayre, Nearly New Baby, Toddler and Pre School Sale, and Children’s Ball.  Alongside these events are some smaller initiatives running in the background such as website links with Amazon and Easyfundraising, Supermarket voucher schemes, Easter Treasure Hunt and much more, details of which are shown in the Annual Development Plan.

Financially the nursery is in a healthy position, it is proving to be a very exciting year for the pre school, and it is hoped that it will continue to go from strength to strength.
