Little Melton Parish Council

Meltonians - Annual Report 2010

At our AGM on 28th January, all officers were re-elected unopposed with just one new committee member in order to regain full strength.  The meetings programme for 2010 was approved which is briefly as follows:

TV & Radio Quiz on 28th Jan, Cuts of Meat on 25th Feb, History of Dragon Hall on 25th March, Norfolk Ice Creams on 22nd April, Wymondham Warblers for our Party on 22nd May, Truth about Victorians on 24th June, History & Manufacture of Soap on 22ns July, Character through Handwriting on 23rd Sept, Moving House brick by brick on 28th Oct and Twenty Bygone Quiz on 18th Nov with Christmas Lunch on 25th Nov.

Meetings continue to well-attended by some twenty of our membership.  We meet at 2.15pm on the fourth Thursday each month (except August) in the warm and bright ‘Bar/Coffee’ room of Little Melton Village Hall.

Subscriptions remain at £4/year with 50p/meeting to cover tea and biscuit expenses etc.  We run a raffle at the end of each meeting which is not only extra fun but allows us to pay our way without heavily reducing our bank deposit account.

You may be interested to know that our Club was selected out of 300 applications to receive an award of £100 from East Anglia Funeral Services Awards.  This award was presented to our Chairman, Mr John Turner by Helen McDermott (formerly of Anglia TV) at their Awards evening last year.  This money will be used in a special way rather than go into general funds.

Please note that our meetings are open to everyone and that you will be warmly welcomed.  Meeting each other is one of the great joys of life and I am sure that you will enjoy our friendly meetings.
