Friends of Little Melton Church
-
Annual Report
2010
The
Friends, founded in 1999, continues to flourish and allows both
regular church-goers and others with a secular interest in our
medieval church to help in its conservation and upkeep. About
60 households, mainly in the village but some further afield, are in
membership and we are very appreciative of all the support we
receive in cash and kind.
In the last year we have continued with our programme of windows
restoration. The two windows in the north aisle have been
finished. In the coming year we hope to complete this 10 year
plan with two windows in the south aisle and a small window near the
altar.
One of our major fund-raising events last year was the car boot
at Colney Hall, for which we are very grateful to Mr & Mrs Boddy for
the loan of their grounds and the Mulbarton Scouts for marshalling.
We also collected apples and sold our now-famous Little Melton Apple
Juice. Thanks are due to all the donors and to John & Barbara
at the Village Shop for their sales and also ticket sales etc.
Our final event of 2009 was the Salvation Army concert of carols at
the Church just before Christmas – the Church was full!
Looking further ahead we are aware that some work on the roof
will be necessary soon and we are working with the Church Council on
the details and costs.
